"After much research I had decided on the Napco Gemini alarm
panel. Then I stumbled upon a new UK system called Comfort. Comfort
is an extremely competent security panel and can form the centre of
a Home Automation system. I contracted a local alarm company to do
the cabling work for the Comfort Alarm system. Comfort can do many
exciting things. For example, you can control appliances in your home
via phone from anywhere in the world! |

A couple of things: Firstly, thanks for the advice about the selection
of the correct zone type (Normally Open or Normally Closed) for the PIR
with an X10 response - switching from zone type 8 to type 9 (N.C.), did
the trick and the response is now instantaneous, as one would expect.
Secondly, you'll be glad to hear that troubleshooting steps we discussed
to try to resolve my Keypad issue. as soon as I connected the new Keypad
in place of my original one, VIOLA! - complete success, totally stable
& reliable operation - signed in as 2 or 3 different users, recorded user
names & greeting message, and tested and checked answering machine function
- all 100% successful. Anyway, my system is now behaving perfectly, and
I am a very happy bunny! THANKS A MILLION for your help, it has been absolutely

"A quick note to say that the remote access via the telephone interface to Comfort really proved its worth this weekend: The tamper cover on one of the sensors worked loose triggering an alarm activation. This phoned us up since we were away to report 'intruder alert'. This was a bit worrying at first! However, because you can interrogate the system log over the phone, I could tell that one sensor has reported a 'trouble' and none had reported any 'movement', making it unlikely that anyone had actually broken in. Over the phone, I could then stop the sirens, re-configure the alarm to exclude the faulty zone, and re-arm the system, which put my mind at rest enough to be able to continue enjoying our break away from home. Without the log facilities or the ability to re-configure over the phone (using no manuals), the alarm would either have severely annoyed the neighbours, or forced us to cut short our break to put my paranoia at ease...
