What's
New in Version 4.00
Software
Version 4.xx supports the new Keypad on Rev C boards. Besides the Keypad
functions, this is the most significant and exciting release of improvements
and new features in the history of the product.
New
Day Mode.
In
addition to Away and Night Modes. In Day Mode, all doors and windows are
protected, while all internal zones are inactive. Arm to Day Mode when
people are awake and to Night Mode when everyone goes to bed.
"Home
Mode" Terminology Changed
"Home
Mode" has been changed to "Security Off" to avoid confusion
with the terminology of other security systems where "Home Mode"
refers to a partly armed mode like "Night Mode". "Security
Off" is unambiguous and more easily understood by customers.
Arm
After Exit Delay
Another
Arming method has been introduced; Arm after exit delay, in addition to
Final Door arming. This is for installations where it is not convenient
to install an Entry Door contact, e.g. for old installations.
16
User Codes
The
number of User Codes has been increased from 8 to 16. The first 8 codes
have mailboxes for Voicemail, while users 9 to 16 do not have mailboxes.
This means that callers cannot leave messages for them. This is applicable
to commercial and industrial priority
User
Authorization
User
Authorization for Local Arm, Local Disarm, Remote Arm, Remote Disarm,
Security Functions, Home Control are applicable individually for all 16
users. In addition, there is an authorization for Disarm after Alarm,
which will be useful for Security Guard applications.
24
Zone System
The
new 16 zone expansion board together with the 8 zones and 8 outputs on
the main board provides system capacity of 24 zones and 8 outputs.
Sign
In Tamper
6
consecutive attempts to sign in either locally or remotely will cause
a "Sign-in Tamper" alarm (Alarm Type 31). This can activate
any siren type and dial-out just like any other Alarm Type. This almost
eliminates the possibility of hacking into the system by outsiders.
Responses
and Actions
Increased
from 99 to 127 to cater for programming functions and the KomPad. More
Action codes have been added to give greater programming capabilities.
Event
Log
Increased
from 100 to 125. Select 3 for Next Day and 4 for Previous Day for easier
navigation through the Event Log.
Cellular
Phone Access
Better
rejection of Double Beeps, i.e. single keypress causing double entry (2
beeps) while using cellular phones for remote access.
Surge
Immunity
Better
immunity to lightning-related surges causing the voice menu to stop working.
Infrared
Codes
Up
to 25 IR codes can be stored in the system, increased to 16, and 544 bytes,
increased from 350.
Two
Way X10
X10
codes can be received via the X10 Two way interface. X10 wall switches
or x10 controllers can be used to control Comfort by triggering any of
the 127 Responses.
Home

Inputs
can be assigned to provide status feedback (on/off) on the Home Control

Documentation
The
Worksheet and Programming Tables have been combined and revised to eliminate
duplication and cross referencing. Default settings are indicated in light
gray. The new worksheet has a comprehensive listing of all locations and
settings including Zone Types, Siren Types etc. which were not in the
older version. In general, the location for all settings which cannot
be programmed on Engineer menu are given, and how to program them.
There
is a new booklet, Programmng with Action Codes, taken from Table 8 from
the old Programming Tables.
There
are new booklets for the revised menus, User/Program Menu" and"Engineer
Menu", which describe the menus only. These will be incorporated into
the respective User and Installation manuals later
U4
Default Settings
The
new version 4 software cannot work with the old U4 EEPROM chip which was
used in the Version 2 and 3 software. Old systems must be reprogrammed.
The new U4 has a new memory structure which contains
- 24
zones
- 125
Event Log
- 127
Responses
- 25
IR Codes maximum with 544 bytes max

The
default Zone Types have been redefined to include Day Mode. The Momentary/Permanent
setting which was not reserved but not used in the old version has been
removed, and redundant zone types have been removed. For example, Zone Types
8 (Momentary Switch) and 9 (Toggle Switch) were identical.. Some of the
Zone Types have also been renamed to reflect their behaviors (e.g. Zone
Type 1 is now Instant Night/Away instead of Immediate Movement. The default
Siren Types and many other settings have also been updated. Look in the
new Worksheet to see the differences. |
